The Poetry Alive! Video Project - Part I

In this unit you will bring a classic poem to life by creating a video. You will find a poem, download a narrated version of it, and match the narration with pictures and audio. Here is an example:

First, find a poem that interests you and download an audio recording of it to Google Drive.

Read the following directions and follow them:
  1. Go to Google Drive and create a new folder called Poetry Alive. If you don't know how to create a folder in Google Drive, watch this video: How to Create a Folder in Google Drive.
  2. Visit Librivox.org.
  3. Scroll down to Poetry and begin looking for an interesting poem.
  4. Or, if you have a favorite poem or poet you can use the search feature to see if Librivox has any recordings in its database.
  5. Once you find a poem you like, listen closely to the recording to make sure it's good quality.
  6. Once you've decided on a recording, download it to Google Drive using the Save to Google Drive extension. (See this video for details)
  7. Move the recording of the poem to your Poetry Alive folder.

Next, find images that relate to your poem and add them to your Poetry Folder in Google Drive. See this video for details. As a rough estimate, plan on needing one image for every seven seconds of audio you have. For instance, if your poem is seventy seconds long you will need around ten images.
